ECU Remapping
How Much Does ECU Remapping Cost in the UK?
21 October 2026
The short answer
ECU remapping cost depends on the exact engine, the ECU, the stage, whether the ECU needs unlocking and whether hardware or gearbox work is involved. Any universal starting price ignores those differences, so we confirm your price for your exact car before booking.
Why the exact engine matters
Two cars with the same badge can use different engines, ECUs and gearboxes. The calibration work, tools and time differ, so the price can differ too.
Stage
Stage 1 on standard hardware is the most common request. Stage 2 depends on supporting parts and is usually quoted individually.
ECU access
Some ECUs can be programmed through the diagnostic port. Others need unlocking or bench access, which takes more time and usually means a workshop appointment.
Hardware
If parts are needed, the quote reflects the parts and fitting as well as the software.
Workshop or mobile
Mobile appointments are available for suitable vehicles. Where workshop access is needed, we will say so before you book.
Gearbox
Gearbox or TCU software is a separate item for supported transmissions and is quoted on its own.
How to get a transparent quote
Search your car in the shop to see any checked Stage 1 price, or send your registration through the quote form. We confirm the full price before any work. STX Tuning quotes final prices with nothing added on top.
