Overrun Crackles – Pop and Bang Tuning

You have probably heard the Pop & Bang on most modern day performance cars. Pops and Bangs, or Crackles as the OEM call it (yes, it’s that common on production cars that even the manufacturers have a name for it!), is simply a calibration feature within the ECU where we set up a specifically targeted, very lean misfire once you lift off the throttle. STX Tuning have invested hundreds of hours in research and development to certify safety of the engine with our popular Pops / Crackles.

The intensity of the Pops / Crackles varies depending on the exhaust temperature – how hard the car’s been used. The hotter the exhaust system is, the easier this tiny amount of fuel we add flashes off.
