The Mk7 Golf R pairs the EA888 Gen 3 2.0 TSI with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, so it puts extra torque down cleanly from a standing start. Its Continental SIMOS 18 engine software leaves useful headroom from the factory, which is why Stage 1 is one of the most popular jobs we carry out on this car.

Tuning the Golf R Mk7

Golf GTI and Golf R models use versions of the 2.0 TSI EA888 engine, but the Mk7, Mk7.5, Mk8 and later cars differ in output and ECU platform. Choose the exact generation rather than the closest badge.

Manual and DSG versions were sold. The DSG version affects sensible torque limits.

Are Mk7 and Mk7.5 the same to tune?
They are listed separately because factory outputs differ, and we confirm the software on your car first.
Can a Golf be remapped at home?
Many can. We check the ECU before offering a mobile appointment.

Had some work done by Sam and his team to my Skoda Superb. Flawless execution, better MPG and power delivery and no more engine lights. Communication was great - would definitely recommend and would use again without hesitation.

Had my 2014 Golf GTI remapped by STX Tuning and I couldn’t be happier. The power gains are instantly noticeable—sharper throttle, stronger pull, and overall much more fun to drive. STX were professional and explained everything clearly. No issues since, and fuel economy is still the same. Highly recommend them if you’re looking to get more out of your car!

Highly recommended service. The team at STX are very accommodating and professional. Had a remap on my Audi which was turned around in a day. Running perfectly. I will definitely be back for additional work in the near future.
